Twenty-five years since Nic Cage and John Travolta swapped faces to hunt one another down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse, the former has confirmed he'd be down for another Face/Off. Travolta, currently shooting a short film in sunny Norfolk, is yet to go on the record, having avoided major silver screen projects for the most part since his unhinged 2018 John Gotti biopic — aptly titled Gotti — flopped.

Cage has been somewhat cagey (sorry) on reprising the role in recent years, but made quite the unequivocal statement in a delightful Reddit AMA over the weekend. Asked whether he'd do a Face/Off 2, which has been in production since 2019 as, variously, a remake and a direct sequel, he simply replied: “Yes.” Now we just need a title: 2 Face 2 Off? Face/Off 2: Electric Boogaloo

Relatedly, a Reddit user asked the question on all of our lips since 1997. “Dear Mr. Travolta,” they wrote, “how has life changed for you since changing faces with Nicholas [sic] Cage? Do you regret the decision or would you do it again?” Perhaps the sequel should be another thrilling cat-and-mouse wherein the two actors, in high-meta style akin to Cage's new action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, hunt one another down for a restorative face swap.

The director currently tapped to helm a prospective Face/Off sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong's Adam Wingard, has previously stated that both actors are “interested” in returning. He also reinforced that any Face/Off 2 has to be a “continuation” of the story of Sean Archer and Castor Troy: “It's hard to talk about other than that but this is, to me, the definitive continuation of that saga.”

Elsewhere in the AMA, we learned that Cage loves Apocalypse Now and Spirited Away, considers Bringing Out the Dead, Pig, and Leaving Last Vegas to be among his best flicks, and, if you wanna shout meme-y quotes at him from stuff like The Wicker Man, he won't give a shit. “I'm glad they remember the movie,” he said. What a dude. It sounds like he'd play Ghost Rider again, too, but did anyone ask for that?
